Codex Entry: Vestigryph

Ring: Dead Glyph

Habitat: Collapsed echo halls, silent ley ruins, dust-veiled sanctums

Diet: Faint intentions, soul echoes, traces of forgotten names

Temperament: Lurking, mournful, appears only when something is nearly lost

Predators: None—exists in planes most beings cannot see or reach

Lore: The Vestigryph is a ghostly avian beast with tattered wings that seem woven from parchment and dusk. Its head is a maskless skull etched with faded glyphs, and its feathers shimmer faintly in twilight tones—dust pink, soft gray, dying gold.

It does not fly in the usual sense. Instead, it glides through still air in erratic, memory-bound bursts. Often seen perching near the remains of unread letters, broken oaths, or lost names carved into stone. Seekers have reported seeing it before they forgot something crucial—only realizing the sighting after the memory was gone.

Its cry cannot be heard—only felt as a gentle pull toward forgetting.
