Codex Entry: Vel’rakai, the Ashwing Choir
Vaultborn Class | Colossus of Griefsong and Silence
Titles:
The Ashwing Choir
She Who Sings Cities to Silence
The Ember Canticle
Region:
Glyphlands Skyreach and Beyond
Form:
Vel’rakai is a vast, serpentine being of ash and radiant flame, her body composed of braided wings that flicker like banners of light. She possesses no face—only a spiraled, glowing crest where her voice emerges: not from a mouth, but from tonewoven glyphs embedded along her neck and chest.
Each of her wings carries a different voice, and when she flies, it is said the air itself remembers loss.
Known Behavior:
Awakened during collective spiritual repression, especially mass grief that is silenced
Appears high above cities or ritual towers, trailing a storm of song-embers
Does not descend—only sings
Her song silences machinery, cancels spells mid-cast, and causes memory glyphs to glow uncontrollably
Spiritual Function:
Guardian of griefsong rites, sacred mourning, and truth-song restoration
Her arrival signals a rupture in emotional balance across the Spiral
Can harmonize with Seeker chants during flamepath rites to cleanse lingering denial
Leaves behind a single Ash Note—a floating glyph that plays one lost truth when held to the chest
Vault Phrase (Veym’ari):
“Ril velon lor—vel’rakai sael kae.”“Sing the flame’s return—Vel’rakai cuts fate.”
