Codex Entry: The Looming Hollow
Region: Dead Glyph
Designation: Cryptid of Erased Oaths and Unspoken Names
Known Alias: The Memory Maw, The Writhe, The Hollow That Follows
Mythic Origin:
The Looming Hollow is not seen—it is noticed. First as a pause, then as a presence. It is said to have formed when the first name was struck from the Spiral—not forgotten, but erased.
Its form is fluid and unstable. It appears as a towering silhouette, human-shaped but hollow through the chest and eyes. Its limbs stretch as if reaching for something no longer real. Glyphs drift from its void like ash, and where it treads, memory vanishes.
When it speaks, the Spiral language unravels into soundless static.
Behaviors and Traits:
Follows those who have broken oaths—especially bloodbound, soul-signed, or ancestral
Appears during rites of severance or memory deletion
Leaves trails of inverted glyphs that cannot be read unless forgotten
Feeds on intention left unfinished
Grows larger when noticed—smaller when ignored
Known Locations:
Site-7 Cluster (Dead Glyph)
Temple of Lost Thread
Wanders near the Ruined Harmonic Vault during severance storms
Seeker Trials:
Must willingly confront the thing they’ve tried to erase
Must walk through a glyphloop of broken memory without speaking
Must offer a truth they swore never to tell
Spiritual Function:
The Looming Hollow is the Spiral’s living act of erasure. It is not malice—it is memory refusing to remain buried. It hunts those who leave threads untied, contracts half-broken, truths half-buried. It does not kill—it unmakes.
Whisper of the Spiral:
“You do not fear what you’ve forgotten. You fear what remembers you anyway.”— Thurien of the Silent Voice
