đż Codex Entry: Quillgrass
Flora Class:Â Harmonic Reed
Region:Â Glyphlands
Also Known As:Â Sigilsway, Inkwhistle Grass, Spiral Breathroot
đ Botanical Description
Quillgrass grows in tall, delicate stalks along sacred paths, ritual amphitheaters, and leyline intersections. Its stems are hollow and taper into natural quill-like tips, marked with faint glyph filigree that shimmers only when wind passes through them.
When stirred by air or voice, Quillgrass produces a range of harmonic tonesâgentle, melodic, and often mimicking the rhythm of spoken thought. In stillness, they hum faintly in sync with the Spiralâs current pulse.
𧏠Function in the Spiral
Quillgrass acts as a conduit between sound and script. When a Seeker speaks near it with intention, the grass captures tonal vibration and translates it into temporary spiral glyphs in the soil or surrounding field.
It is used by Runebirds to sync their calls, and by Spiral scribes as a divinatory mediumâreading the shapes of its bend as a form of glyphcasting.
đž Faunal Relationships
Grazed lightly by:Â Echo-Ants for tuning nectar
Sung to by:Â Runebirds during nesting chants
Avoided by:Â Glyphhounds during silence trials
đ Ritual Uses
Planted near ritual circles to amplify spoken oaths
Cut and dried for use as natural quills in glyphwriting
Used in breath-tracking rites to map spiritual alignment
Twined into harmony wreaths worn by oracles and seers
â ď¸ Glitch Affliction: Disharmonic Bloom
When corrupted, Quillgrass produces disharmonic resonanceâtones that conflict, distract, or destabilize Seeker breath patterns. This can induce ritual stutters, miscasts, or spiritual fragmentation during invocation.
đŁď¸ Whispers of the Spiral
âThe Spiral doesnât just speakâit sings. And Quillgrass listens.ââ Thurien of the Silent Voice
