Codex Entry: Noctrel, the Tidebound Sleeper
Vaultborn Class | Colossus of Memory Loss and Liminal Dream
Titles:
The Tidebound Sleeper
She Who Remembers by Forgetting
The Breath Between Waking
Region:
Fadefield
Form:
Noctrel is a vast, coiled leviathan—part eel, part moth-winged serpent—half-submerged in a dreamsea that flows unseen beneath the Fadefield. Her body is bioluminescent and translucent, shifting between solid and spectral depending on the phase of sleep and moon.
Her wings trail like long veils of ink in water, each feather etched with half-formed glyphs. From her back rise gentle spires of ripplelight, pulsing in sync with forgotten names spoken aloud.
She does not open her eyes. She is always listening.
Known Behavior:
Awakens only when a region forgets itself, or when a Seeker becomes dislodged from identity
Seen only through dreamwalks, spirit immersion, or memory rites performed in water
Emits soft, recursive chants in the language of lost names—those never recorded, only wept
Seeks no contact, but those who approach often dream of their past selves watching them sleep
Spiritual Function:
Guardian of dream-fract rituals, memory repair rites, and emotional reclamation
Tends the Submerged Archive, a dreaming temple containing thoughts discarded before they were born
May release a Tide-Lace, a living stream of dream-thread that guides the Seeker back to a forgotten choice
Said to be the only being who can remove a memory without pain
Vault Phrase (Veym’ari):
“Elar sael noctrel—ril kae suvia.”“Silence fates Noctrel—sing the cut Spiral.”
