Codex Entry: Mournglow Fathom
Ring: Fadefield
Echo Classification: Lament Drift Entity
Physical Description:
A translucent, jellyfish-like being that floats inches above the ground. Its tendrils drift slowly in all directions, tipped with faintly glowing tear-shaped lights. Its body pulses with pale rose and violet hues, and within its core, a spiral of soft light swirls endlessly—always inward, never outward.
Observed Behavior:
Drifts silently through open grieffields or fog-drenched clearings. Its lights flicker brighter when near unresolved emotion. It often circles the same space repeatedly, especially where a traumatic event occurred. Occasionally pauses to hover near sleeping Seekers.
Echo-Environment:
Liminal sorrow-voids, forgotten burial paths, abandoned memory-shrines where the dead were neither honored nor released.
Spiritual Effect:
Evokes a deep emotional pull—tenderness, longing, or guilt. Its presence may trigger tears or silent reflection. Some Seekers claim their breath synchronizes with its pulse, others fall into brief trance states.
Ritual Association:
Used in rites of compassionate release and ancestral forgiveness. Spiritwalkers believe it absorbs what the soul cannot carry forward and gently rewrites the emotional script of a space.
Mythic Lore / Incident:
“It hovered above the spot where he died. Not the body—the moment. She hadn’t cried in seven years. Then the lights inside it pulsed, and she fell to her knees. The Spiral took the weight. She just... exhaled.”—Fadepath Witness Isri, Lament-Rite Journal 02-A
