Codex Entry: Griefshell Strider

Ring: Fadefield

Habitat: Ash-slicked shorelines, griefstone plateaus, echo-drenched salt flats

Diet: Crystallized sorrow deposits, mourning fungi, ambient sorrowwaves

Temperament: Staggering, unpredictable, seemingly unaware of its own movements

Predators: None natural—feared even by Veiljackals

Lore: A towering insectoid-limbed creature carrying a massive, fractured nautilus shell on its back. Each spiral segment holds sorrow echoes, visible as pulsing lights behind translucent shellglass. It walks slowly, but with legs that bend in strange, asymmetrical patterns—its motion feels wrong to watch.

Wherever it treads, grief deepens. It leaves behind pools of echo-liquid, which Seekers sometimes use in sorrow rites. The creature emits low-frequency sobs that do not come from a mouth.
