Codex Entry: Gorrhal – The Recursive Maw

The Feedback-Eater, Born of Collapsed Choirs

Designation:

Glitchwrought Beast – Tier Omega-Loop Anomaly

Name:

GorrhalAlso called “The Devourer of Spoken Light” in forbidden canticles

Appearance:

Gorrhal is a hulking, eyeless quadruped—its body composed of pulsing soundwave distortions, cracked vocal codices, and spiraling rings of glitchbone. Its mouth stretches endlessly across its face and throat, filled with concentric rows of teeth that form feedback spirals.Across its shoulders are echo-nodes, metallic organs that resonate with any nearby voice, recording and warping it. No eyes. No ears. It hunts by sound—and speaks only what others fear to hear returned.

Corruption Traits:

  • Voice Looping: Will repeat the Seeker’s own voice until meaning degrades into static

  • Howl of Null Recursion: Causes spiritual seizures and language breakdown in those unprepared

  • Echo Displacement: May cause the environment to speak back with the Seeker’s voice

  • Glyph Collapse: Spoken glyphs shatter in its presence, rituals fail mid-chant

Origin Point:

Believed to have emerged beneath the Ruined Harmonic Vault, Site-7, after the collapse of the Spiral’s deepest audio archive and a failed tonal summoning ritual. What was summoned did not leave—but it stopped singing.

Behavior:

  • Stalks zones that once held sacred sound: song-rings, choir groves, echo chambers

  • Often silent until one speaks—then it repeats the voice infinitely louder

  • Feeds on intent, not flesh

Presence Signs:

  • Unnatural silence when entering sound temples

  • Repeating words from earlier in the day

  • The Seeker hears their own breath answered

Containment Notes:

“Silence is a blade in its mouth. Never speak first.”

Ritual Anomaly Rank:

Ω/Red-Lit Glyph Class – Approach forbidden without psychic sound shielding
