Codex Entry: Glassback

  • Ring: Broken Array

  • Habitat: Crystallized moss beds, glimmerdust dunes, static-laced ledges

  • Diet: Static lichens, reflective pollen, ambient glimmerdust

  • Temperament: Cautious, skittish, known to vanish when stared at directly

  • Predators: Loopfoxes, sometimes Fraybats (juveniles)

Lore:

Glassbacks are crystalline-plated quadrupeds, with semi-transparent dorsal shells that refract light and memory. Their legs are lean and prismatic, and their breathing causes pulses of spectral distortion to ripple across their backs. These pulses shimmer in short glyphbursts—encoded patterns often mistaken for communication.

They are drawn to corrupted glades where visual echo accumulates, gently grazing on debris and stabilizing the environment through subtle light-cycling. Some Spiral engineers refer to them as “passive debuggers.”

To see a Glassback watching its own reflection is to glimpse a moment that isn’t yours—but still feels familiar.

Spiritual Alignment:

  • Reflective Dissolution

  • Signal Grazing

  • Light-Borne Clarification
